If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road. …I think if you look at the present state of the world, it is pretty plain that humanity has been making some big mistakes. We are on the wrong road. And if that is so, we must go back. Going back is the quickest way on.
Humanity in the West is like a drunk man punching himself in the face for calling himself a racial slur. It has become beyond tragic, beyond comical, and now just reeks with the stink of a mental health ward.
Faith Goldy on Québec identity and a letter to the Catholic church expecting it to stand up for itself:
The Insight genetics podcast (with Razib Khan and Spencer Wells) does a decade in review of human genetics. Genetics is a field that must be under constant Lefty scrutiny (since race and sex, and soon intelligence, are social constructs) as genetic research can turn the Lefty narrative on its head. These guys manage to steer clear of the poz, so enjoy.
Z Man on Dumb Ideas, which these days are not so bad, as most of our leaders clearly are not thinking, much less coming up with ideas. On the Great Cover-Up, or how no one is liable for the Deep State’s spying on Trump. The West moves towards consolidation, which means stepping down will be the only form of social mobility left. On the issues caused by forcing unlike peoples together, and a solution: No More Weirdos.

Cantandum in Ezkhaton is published every Sunday, morning-ish (Savannah, GA time).
A request for my readers: let me know if you have any suggestions for books on the history of the Dutch/Boer/Afrikaner White peoples of southern Africa. It’s not a very popular topic these days. Thanks in advance.
Canuckistan is Clownworld and our election is a five ring circus. Political parties are scrambling to disavow their connection to Faith Goldy, while trying to tar one another with the same brush. I see a politician meeting Goldy, and then having the balls to dismiss any resulting criticism, as a plus. Their purity spiral is no surprise though, as when all parties are starting to become one homogeneous mass, they are bound to hold a common set of standards. Note that according to the article, Le Dauphin tried to get Faith and her two friends to go with him to a suite party at the Chateau Laurier…five years after he married his current wife.
And then, just coincidentally I’m sure, while speaking of Trudeau and tar, he gets busted for wearing blackface back in 2001, and then again for two incidents in the 90s. Even Al Jazeera covered this one. What baffles me (and Tucker Carlson) is the shock and surprise in the MSM. Maybe it’s just feigned on their part. It’s been fairly obvious from the start, however, this guy is just a con artist, playing the Progressive Messiah (a persona that largely tries to copy Obama). Trudeau will use this event to justify his progressive agenda, by arguing that Canada, and particularly white European Canada, needs to acknowledge its racism, and Ottawa is justified in restricting our thoughts and actions to fix it. We all get tarred because Le Dauphin wore blackface. Honk, honk.
Throne and Altar with a book review of Sir Robert Filmer’s Patriarchia: a Defense of the Natural Power of the Kings Against the Unnatural Liberty of the People. Among notable arguments, that authority to rule arises from the authority of father over his children.
The tax is everywhere. Turn on the television to watch a sportsball game and you will be inundated with commercials for race mixing, homosexuals and girl power. What should be a few hours vegging out in front of the tube to watch men play a game, quickly turns into an aggravation that saps your strength. TV ratings have declined for sports, because for many normal people, the tax is now exceeding the benefit. Staring blankly at the wall is more relaxing than another lecture on girl power.
This is the massive hidden tax on normal people. The price of tolerating Progressive lunatics is the stress of crumbling community, the irritation of endless propaganda and the bitterness than comes with self-censorship. Everyone’s life is diminished because a small group of people impose a heavy tax burden on the rest of us. The rise of dissident politics is not a reaction to Progressive lunacy, so much as it is the result of carrying the hidden tax burden. Normal white men are tired of paying the damned tax.
Alf brings us up to date on progress in the Netherlands. They’re starting to tackle the horrible inequality in atmospheric gases by controlling nitrogen emissions. Really, at 78% of our air, it’s time for N2 to check its diatomic privilege. Diatomism says atoms bond into pairs, and only atoms of the same element. But what about those involuntarily monoatomic (Inmon) gases, or mixed element gases? What about those atoms that are Perio-fluid, or refuse to accept socially constructed covalent/ionic bonding customs? Due to its high bonding energy (‘power’), nitrogen will simply not acknowledge the lived experiences of other gases. This does not withstand any smell test. It’s time to pass gas laws that recognize diversity in air is our strength.
In prior posts I accused the United Conservative Party of being the Unsane Clown Posse. I retract that; all of it. The reason being is this letter by Premier Jason Kenney. It is a response to an Amnesty International open letter addressed to him. It claimed that Alberta’s ‘War Room’, which will seek to counter propaganda against my province and its oil and gas industry, is a human rights violation. Premier Kenney responds (perhaps taking lessons from Trump) by being scornfully dismissive, heaping ridicule and mockery on the writer. My TL;DR translation:
Amnesty International – “Your ‘War Room’ interferes with Globohomo’s Climate EmergencyTM agenda. Please cease and desist or we’ll report you to the Ministry of Truth.”
Premier Kenney – “Fuck off, shill.”
Amnesty International – “Your ‘War Room’ interferes with Globohomo’s Climate EmergencyTM agenda. Please cease and desist or we’ll report you to the Ministry of Truth.”
Premier Kenney: “…???…clownworld.”
It felt like no one would stand up for Alberta, ever since the [current year]. For ten years, we’ve been labeled as the evil oil and gas province, and everyone has shit on us, even our own Prime Minister, who gladly takes our taxes back to Ottawa then treats us like a bag of kittens he can’t wait to drown in the Rideau Canal. Premier Kenney’s response is a salve much needed.

Which means that you can’t half-ass community. Long term, you can’t have an underclass. You can’t have outcasts. You have to have community, and you can’t force it through some idiotic top-down “team building” exercise, because dammit, that will just make people hate each other even more. Community has to be a real thing that real people actually enjoy being part of, or they will, at best, let it fall apart; at worst they burn it down with you in it.

The Myth of the 20th Century with a Q&A podcast: it’s a lot of fun.
Instead, the parties put on a show for the voters, rarely intending to actually do what they claim. Instead, they manufacture differences between one another, so they can pretend the choice before the voters is stark. Once the election is over, the politicians go back to living their lives of leisure, waiting for instructions from the people who actually run things. The politicians are like robot actors, brought out for elections, then put back in storage.
And sorry ladies, but this week’s Z Blog Power Hour is at frequencies only men can hear: Wammin’s World.
As Alain de Benoist and Charles Champetier write in their Manifesto for a European Renaissance (2012), no doubt under the dual influences of Guénon and Evola: “The destruction of the life-world for the benefit of instrumental reason, economic growth, and material development have resulted in an unprecedented impoverishment of the spirit, and the generalization of anxiety related to living in an always uncertain present, in a world deprived both of the past and the future. Thus modernity has given birth to the most empty civilization mankind has ever known.” The sirens, however, who swim in the tepid waters, and the harpies who swoop in the tepid air, know not the tepidity, nor the jejuneness, nor the de-individuating insipidity of their milieu. The Traditionalists foresaw this impasse a long time ago.
The progressives cannot construct a lasting structure. Because of their denial of history and shrinking of time horizons, they cannot tap into the eternal and the unspoken that reaches inside all humans. This is the challenge. Tapping into that which is eternal and undeniable is what is needed. To make these spaces not just exist but grow is the challenge. Once public spaces have become a garbage dump in comparison to your private spheres, the levers they control will matter less. It is not that you may be outside their reach, but that their decrees and proclamations will not matter at all.
Tactics of the Troubles continues at American Sun with Part III, American Lessons, or what the Troubles can tell us about coming civil unrest. Also, for your down time this coming week: Five Friday Reads, with a nod to the Myth of the 20th Century podcast (see above). It is as good as Mr. Landry says. Have a listen and send them Bitcoin.
A decent article over at the NYT about the politicization of art in modern times. There is a reference to blank slatism in the article, implying that art and culture define what emotions we feel, and otherwise we have no inherent feelings. This is nonsense.
What art does is in part communicate a human experience in a different media which remains accessible long after the people who had the experiences, the languages, the places and cultures are long gone. I don’t need to be an Mayan, be steeped in Mayan culture, or speak Yucatec to look upon Chichen Itza and feel the awe that Mayans would have when it was a hub of their culture a thousand years ago. The more art I see, the more I know about myself because the more I understand humans, some of whom lived hundreds of years ago. It is the ability of art to communicate the human experience across time, irrespective of language and culture that makes it powerful. Modern art is vacuous precisely because it utterly fails to communicate in such a manner. I cannot see Venus by Lucas (the Elder) Cranach (c. 1518, in the National Gallery in Ottawa; could not find an image online) without recognizing it is a representation of a young woman whom Lucas was very confused about, wanting to care for like a daughter on one hand, and feeling desire for on the other hand. His state of mind, very conflicted, is communicated clear as day to me, 500 years after the fact, long after the artist and subject have perished, his language and culture altered greatly in the intervening years. I had these feelings before I saw Venus. But when I saw Cranach’s portrait, I knew that somewhere long ago, someone else had those feelings too. Transmitted through time is the message that I, in my conflicted feelings, am not alone, but share an experience with fellow men across time. Thus is the power of art.
With “modern” art, I see nothing but a self-loathing which is incomprehensible, and so, is rightly sterile and a nullity.
Of course, the point of these ridiculous shows they are calling political debates is to normalize the crap-fest heading our way. The future is not going to be a boot stamping a human face. The future is going to be a parade of formerly marginal people mewing about their troubles, while a mysterious brown women tells war stories. What we saw the last two nights is a society running on the capital built up over generations, by people no longer allowed to be in charge of their society
The doctrine of the natural origin and growth of society is the distinctive Tory doctrine of England, the very opposite to the theories of Locke and the Fathers of our late Republic. In adopting it, we begin a great conservative reaction. We attempt to roll back the Reformation in its political phases; for we saw everywhere in Europe and America reformation running to excess, a universal spirit of destructiveness, a profane attempt to pull down what God and nature had built up and to erect ephemeral Utopia in its place. Liberty was degenerating into licentiousness, and “anarchy, plus the street constable,” stared us in the face. We lead off a new reactionary Reformation, and Christendom must follow our lead, or soon be involved in social chaos and confusion.

What was it those Cylon hybrids said? “All this has happened before and will happen again.”

Traditionalist movements based on an intellectual adherence to abstract systems are not the type of tradition we need. We need a heartfelt faith, we need our Jesus, who lived in the hearts of the antique Europeans and will come to the hearts of the men and women who ‘regress’ to old Europe.
Jim discusses the Mueller Testimony. I don’t think Mueller is senile (at least to the extent he portrayed). He was evasive and slimy about it. If someone had asked him “Why can’t you “go there”?” he probably would have suddenly gone deaf to avoid answering shortly before pleading the fifth. Jim is correct, Mueller is aware of some greater dirt.
Everyone here is getting nuts about the climate issue,” Antje Hermenau tells me over drinks that same night on Dresden’s historic town square. She would know: a native of nearby Leipzig and longtime resident of Dresden, Hermenau was a Bundestag member for the Greens soon after reunification. But she has since broken with the national party, to great public controversy, seeing the Greens as disconnected from the fundamental concerns of average Saxons. Her complaints can sound familiar. Today’s Greens are urbane bohemians who look down on rural residents, she says, intent on regulating the diesel cars that sustain their livelihoods out of existence. In Bundestag hearings they grandstand about the necessity of installing unisex toilets in Berlin while ignoring the economic plight of their countrymen.
… … Hermenau has no nostalgia for the communist era. She sees the German Democratic Republic (GDR) as an illegitimate regime that was brutally imposed upon a traditionally conservative populace; she herself was on the front lines opposing it in 1989. But when she talks about the Cold War legacy, she inverts the usual formula: It was the West, not the East, whose development went off track. Even under communist subjugation, she tells me, East Germans knew who they were: 1989 was a “Christian and conservative revolt,” she says, “not a leftist one.” But West Germans, by virtue of their Cold War alliance with the West, came to embrace an identity that was not their own. No longer identifying with Mitteleuropa, they rebranded themselves as Westerners, full stop—and became cut off from their roots and their kinsmen.
…the Right is aligned with Truth, the Left with Power. Another way of saying this is that the right serves Christ and the left Satan. This is the irreducible ideological distinction.
William Briggs with This Week In Doom: So Long, Whites Edition. When Leftists say they must be ‘Lincolnesque’, I assume they mean the solution requires the death of whites in the hundreds of thousands. But let’s check the source (Kevin Drum at Mother Jones):
“Reactionary American whites, as always, won’t give up their power unless it’s taken from them by either a literal or figurative war. Liberals need to be as Lincolnesque¹ as possible in this endeavor—we don’t have to win the votes of unrepentent bigots, just the fretful fence-sitters—but we also need to be Lincolnesque² in our commitment to winning the Trump-inspired race war we’re now in the middle of.
¹That is, with malice toward none and charity for all.
²That is, with an iron determination to win.
UPDATE: I’ve made a couple of very slight wording changes to the last paragraph, just to make it absolutely clear what I mean here.”
The current elites are rotten to the core. They are irredeemable. There’s no talking them out of their corruption or appealing to their humanity, at least not until they are on the gallows. These are people who now define themselves in opposition to that which makes nations possible and makes a people possible. For the people of the West to regain their sense of self, to make countries into homelands again, it means replacing the current elites.
At some point, the passport holders need to put neoclassical economic textbooks to the side and accept that there are non-economic variables which generate social cohesion and positive externalities, which allow for prosperity. And the acidic impact of globalization is eroding those factors across the developed world, resulting in the rise of populism.
Something to lift your spirits (trigger warning: white people celebrating stuff white people made; encourages caring for family, women doing domestic work, disproportionate emotional labour, and self-sacrifice).
These people only want you on your knees so you beg for virtue. This is how you manage a prana farm.
Flogging the ego in public only shows people you’re a masochist. Terms like “white privilege,” “toxic masculinity,” and “white nationalist” are the tools of this trade. If you think your genitals, melatonin, or political affiliation is a source of shame, you are living in a syringe of self-loathing. This narcissism will manifest with you seeing the outer world as racist, sexist, or xenophobic, too. This is the technology of projection.
Love yourself completely. Kids are watching. We don’t want them growing up in a sick world. The ego is a good thing. Pride is a good thing. These are fountainheads of morality. A weak ego is a curly straw for vampires. A society is broken when it saunters through the streets swinging the cat-of-nine-tails. These awards for the most dramatic bleeding are incarnated masochism. Rise up in your spine. Stop pretending you are a virus on the earth. You are the living soil. These words are a wet seed that grows.
I’ve thought this applies to Canada as well. With all the rhetoric sophistry the Libtards are throwing about on foreign interference in this Fall’s federal election, should Le Dauphin, notre petite pomme de terre, not be affirmed as the rightful sovereign of Canada, I give it a 16.67% chance he stages some kind of coup. It won’t be anything original: expect a polite version of Russiagate. Given his unrestrained adoration of Castro, one might think he would try a military coup. I doubt DND will find him charming enough for that.
“My community doesn’t — pardon the expression — give a rat’s tahootie about what 14 bishops across this country think, and that’s what it came down to is 14 bishops,” George said. “If we’re going to follow what God is telling us to do, we need to be able to hear all the voices that are in the room.”
Something near and dear to my heart to start the week: reparations for the Norman conquest of 1066. Once the Normans took over, the native language, Old English, fell out of favour (who can blame them…all those cases and agglutinated words). I’m now oppressed by my own language, speaking a pidgin of Old English and Norman French, which constantly reminds me of the Norman pillage and rape of my ancestors (maybe), plus makes it almost impossible to get myself drunk in Iceland.
Many have hopes this will be the end of the deep state, the Clintons’ downfall, or be Trump’s revenge for Russiagate. I think that’s unlikely. If that many rich and powerful people are involved, it will be no surprise when Mr. Epstein hangs himself in his cell. Either that or gets helped into one of these (courtesy Apocalyptic Revolutionary).
GA Blog on the language of resentment. SJWs act like spoiled children because they will not grow the hell up. And why would they? They were coddled all their lives, told they were all special snowflakes that could do anything they wanted, and then found out that reality either melts snowflakes or crushes them into ice. Anyways, GA Blog states:
Maturity means being able to notice more and more distinctions—and all distinctions are on some level invidious—while attending more and more to the formalizing of those distinctions, rather than to seeking out their justifications. The most egalitarian world possible would instantly turn into the most inegalitarian one: imagine we could all be placed in a state of nature, with equal physical and intellectual capabilities. As soon as we got started doing something, status distinctions would emerge—someone notices something first, someone gets a little more of something, someone, maybe for random reasons, is a bit more attractive than others, etc. Even if the differences were minute and rapidly changing they would loom large. So, everyone would be immediately, and constantly, faced with the choice: you can think, how do I get as much as that person (or reduce him to as little as me); how do I make myself as attractive as that person (or reduce his attractiveness), and so on; or, how can these status distinctions be formalized, so that what it means to have access to things, to identify new centers, to be the center of others’ attention can be made explicit and therefore a source of order. You might still want more things, to have more power, to be more attractive, and you might use others as models to acquire these things, but you would do so in such a way as to strengthen the meaning the center has conferred upon such practices.
Housekeeping: This week is short due to my being out of coverage for the next several days. There will be no Cantandum for next week. I should get a blog roll started so folks can head to the primary sources during such gaps.
You know, finding nice smoking girl pictures is hard. But it’s way easier using DuckDuckGo. I wonder why…
A bet? That’s what life is all about. Making the bet. Why? Because you’ll never gain complete knowledge in this life. Without that, no choice is more than just a bet. Ultimately, you’re betting on what you want. After all, this place is so marvelously constructed that you can’t truly tell whether we are the result of chance or design. Bark all you want, Weiner-Dog. You can’t prove it, either way. Don’t bother bloviating. I ain’t listening. You can’t prove it. Nobody can. At least, not to the other guy. Maybe to yourself. But let’s not kid ourselves. You can’t even convince yourself. So, you place the bet.
Guillaume Durocher on where globalism is thriving: Global Cities.
It turns out that human society is nothing like a watch and the people in it are not simply automata that can be tinkered with as necessary. Human society is the expression of the shared reality of the people. That shared reality is the result of actions, experiences and mating decisions made by their ancestors. Who they are is what they are. The Frenchman is French, because his ancestors were French, not because the map maker said he was born in France. The nation is the manifestation of this reality.
My first redpills came from MGTOW, and sometimes I go back to old sources to see what’s up. The Thinking Ape, Stardusk, did an interview with a Reactionary Expat which was my first introduction to the Reactosphere. I did not look back. Stardusk has an eye-opening video on what happens after Trump finishes his SECOND term.
Steve Sailer on the latest justification for ‘Diversity is Our Strength’: it’s our punishment. Also, classical music must die! Which is, in progressivespeak, to say that it must be killed, as the inherent whiteness of classical music is (insert sound of sucking wind through teeth here) problematic. Well, we can’t help it that we see glory and greatness in our existence and think it is worth preserving.
PA Blog on revisiting old 80s movies. He’s right, they were much better times. And it’s true: Gen X was raised with an impending sense of doom. The Cold War ended and took nuclear fears with it…but it did not take away the sense that we were playing with fundamental forces we did not understand. Those forces turned out to be innate characteristics of humans themselves. After almost 30 years of unrestrained progressive ignorance and manipulation, that fear was correct.
Via Clarissa, MLK gets #metoo’d. Somehow it’s news he was an adulterer and had unsavoury proclivities. The author of the original article (here) had been writing about this since the eighties, if memory serves. It only becomes a hot issue now because it can be used to virtue signal. I remember about ten years ago CBC radio broadcast many MLK speeches praising the man. How times change.
That’s probably the single biggest cultural problem facing America today. The Baby Boom generation is not going to age gracefully. Instead of picking which one of their kids will take their keys away, they will keep a white-knuckled grip on the wheel until the country goes over the cliff. Nancy Pelosi should be in a rest home right now. Instead she wanders around the capital in her bathrobe and slippers, the third most powerful person in the Imperial government, unable to remember her own name.
… That’s where we are now. America is a country ruled by cucks who are afraid of the future, so they rummage around in the past. They’re like children putting on shows for their parents, wearing their clothes and singing their songs. It’s all echoes of the past and cucking to current fads. It is an entirely useless ruling elite that will have to be wiped away, before we can face the future. Barring an asteroid strike and societal collapse, it means waiting for the great Baby Boomer die off to clear the path forward.
The Ensign Hour crew mentioned Disgruntled Leaf Network, a YouTuber who has been steadily putting out videos for a couple of years. They’ve got interesting material. I advise the following for a taste: Of Maenads and Men.
An article from City Journal on the decline of Christianity in the West (i.e The Decline of the West). This is something I am seeing more of: the idea that as Christianity has declined, so has the West. Reactionary says: ‘duh’, although it’s showing up in the normie media as well. Maybe Jordan Peterson and others are helping to show the source of the decline after all.
