There is nothing like being out of cell coverage with not a photon of Wifi service about to give one time to clear one’s head. The internet really is information overload. I suspect this current societal upheaval, with its talk of a civil war, is actually a response to what the internet has revealed: modern Progressive liberalism does not work and it never did. It’s a sham whose facade is held up by sacrificing our social capital and our prosperity.

Its Messiah, Barack Obama, came and went, and things only got worse. Ms. Merkel implemented its highest ideals, and a million migrants later, her nation was in chaos with its women being assaulted and raped in the streets. Canada’s own Saviour, Le Dauphin, Justin Le Premier, rode a wave of Progressive promises and became the top politician in Canada. His reign has been less than four years and Canada has never been more fractured nor perceived as more weak and simultaneously corrupt. What is most startling is how very quickly, when actual Progressivism is implemented, things turn to chaos.

The pending civil war we keep hearing about is I suspect two different camps forming in response. One, is doubling down on Progressivism, possibly lamenting that it has never actually been tried, but more often, nubes thinking they discovered a new social justice cause when in reality all those causes are history, most being recycled from the civil rights movements of the middle 20th century, if not much earlier.

The other feels something is wrong. They’re not quite sure what that is, but they feel it. You don’t need to be a goaltender to know, in your gut, when it’s time to replace the goaltender. They sense that our nations are not working properly and the system is not producing what it’s supposed to. In the reactosphere and the dissident right, we see the system producing exactly what it is designed to, which is a way to power.

It never worked as a way to uplift the masses, because Progressivism has always been an exercise in ignoring reality in the hopes of realizing an ideal, by denying facts about race, genetics, language, abilities, and the sexes. It has been tried with ever increasing fervour for over 200 years and it’s only getting worse. I’m in this camp and as you are reading this, I suspect you might be similarly inclined.

Z Man with his Z Blog Power Hour Podcasts: a particularly good The Roots of Our Madness. The first part hit hard for me. Do LTTWT. Z Man attends American Rennaisance, Part I and Part II. On Ethno-Fanaticism, or ways forward from the current attempts at globalization:

The old national identity used to function as the strong force that subordinated the local and tribal, in favor of the national. While France could have plenty of local flavor, so to speak, the strong force of French nationalism bound all those local tribes together like horses pulling a wagon. As that strong force is deliberately weakened, nothing has come to replace it, so the weak force is taking over. The response by elites is to attack group identity by writing the people out of their own history.

Also, on Privacy on the Technology State. His weekly podcast from last week: the May Grab Bag. On conspiracy theories and what they tell us. Z Man also gets the inaugural Double-Quote of the Week award with Citationism, an explanation of the footnote laden mess passing for academic writing these days:

When people stop looking for gaps in their own knowledge or in the prevailing orthodoxy, they no longer have much to say. The lack of curiosity used to be the end of an academic career. It was when the old guy was put out to pasture, gaining the “emeritus” label. Today, a promiscuous lack of curiosity is a requirement for anyone entering the media, the academy or the official public space. As a result, we have a class of academics and public intellectuals, who are a circus of banality.
