Cantandum in Ezkhaton 04/28/19

Due to my being out of touch for Easter, this week’s Cantandum is going to be a bit longer. For those new to it, it is a summary of articles that reactionaries may find interesting. I do tend to keep it simple. I’m a lawyer and every opinion I give during the week at the real job has to be carefully considered, referenced and sourced, and double-checked for consistency. So when it comes to blogging, I’m pretty off the cuff. There are some things worth saying that need to come from the limbic system.

On Easter

The Lord Has Risen

The Orthosphere on the meaning of Christ’s suffering. William Briggs with Happy Resurrection Day! Anti-Gnostic with the Harrowing of Hell.

Audacious Epigone on violence against Christians Easter Worshipers.

The Rest

An interesting post-mortem on Notre Dame. From Clarissa, seemingly from a dissident left – signs of discontent. Filed under ‘nuff said‘. Also, on the next iteration of the degree granting college. Plus, the Costs of Diversity (the Wikipedia entry on Justine’s death, and her killer Mohamed Noor, is eye opening).

American Sun compares sold military souls in the US and Iran. On the American Empire’s Legacy of War. An interesting column on the fate of Christianity in the modern world. Mr. Landry on how Millennials got priced out of the housing market in Five Friday Reads.

Jim on Michael Knowles recent visit to UKMC. Quoting Jim:

Marxists, Human biodiversity deniers, Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warmists, and sexual difference deniers simply lie loudly and repeatedly. When one of their lies is rebutted, they ignore the rebuttal, and instead of responding, issue a dozen new lies, then return to the old lie, assuming not only that it was never rebutted, but that everyone, including the person who rebutted it, agrees that it is the obvious, unquestioned, and unquestionable truth – a style of debate that reveals that they know that they are lying.

If Marxists genuinely believed that capitalism was recent, or that the French Revolution was a capitalist revolution rather than an anti capitalist revolution, if Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warmists believed that global warming was causing a refugee crisis, they would respond to evidence and argument with evidence and argument, rather than telling you “the science is settled.”

The video of Mr. Knowles visit, which is worth viewing, given Knowles way of handling hecklers, by mockery and rejection:

Anatoly Karlin reviews Andrew Yang’s book The War on Normal People. Normally, I don’t spend much time on books from the Left, but this is worth a look, if nothing more, to see why Andrew Yang will eventually be burned at the stake.

Malcolm with a great sunset. Also, what Justice Scalia advised Christians to consider about socialism. Under ‘WTF’, a sanctuary judge in a sanctuary courthouse gets busted?!? The Cathedral has really upped its game if it is getting judges to do this shit. Especially as Massachusetts judges are appointed, not elected, so no need to show wokeness to keep your job (at least, unlike Canada, not yet). Also, on Michael Anton’s latest, the Trump Doctrine and ‘America First’ nationalism. If you have not read his The Flight 93 Election, you should.

GA Blog with more thoughts on HLvM.

Alf on the trials of Thierry Baudet. Plus, a follow-up here.

PA Blog on Earth Day. A look back at communism and the surprise when it was found out the west had it too. Plus, the Miracle in Minneapolis. A link to A Ballad of the Burning Cathedral. A foray into modern pop culture.

Evolutionist X with interesting considerations on dignity. Followed up with Speaking of dignity, and politeness.

Signs of civilization collapsing, by Audacious Epigone. Also, on Our New Tech Overlords. Plus, More Migrants Please.

At Neo-Ciceronian Times, some tactics for the Dissident Right – We’re Not Going To Talk Our Way Out of This. Agreed.

Z Man on The Strange Death of Neo-Conservatism. Related, those conservative Lotus Eaters. His appearance on Happy Homelands. His thoughts on the use of the term ‘Dissident Right‘. He examines stagnation in the west in Beyond Archeofuturism. On Contempt of the People, and how the cycles of history don’t play out the same way every time. His weekly Z Blog Power Hour.

Woke Capitalism Is Our Enemy, at American Conservative. The article is okay, but the add-ons at the end were better. A taste:

It is like the architecture of today. It’s not worth fighting for, or caring about. Entropy, decadence, a feeling of contempt for the stupid, banal smallness of it all. I mean, what is liberalism today? What do our elites, our ruling class, look like today? Remember that guy with the parents who are very, very well-connected to Democratic Party elites, who got into Princeton by submitting a personal essay that was just “BLACK LIVES MATTER” repeated a hundred times? *That’s* our elites today. There’s the horrors of Communism, of political totalitarianism; but there’s also something else, maybe something that could best be analogized to “The Nothing” from the Never Ending Story. One of the things that’s so awful about today’s ascendant liberalism is that it is so ascendant and dominant and simultaneously so empty. The emperor has no clothes, and why bother to build families, institutions, communities, or anything else when one knows that one is too cowardly and pathetic to do anything other than go along with everyone else in pretending that the emperor isn’t naked?

Spandrell on debt and debt jubilees, worth an RTWT.

Mr. Briggs with This Week In Doom – Religion In Flames Edition. A guest post: Ianto Watt’s ‘Sing, Ye Gods, Of The Wrath Of Achilles‘, on paganisms, old and new. Mr. Briggs on a Flood of Evidence, which is notes on Bertonneau remarks on de Maistre’s Elucidation on Sacrifices. Also, on what play and fun used to look like. Guest Cranky Professor on Time Travel. A contest on who can parody Christianity. Coming full circle: This Week In Doom – Dead Christians Edition.

The Anti-Gnostic on Totalitarianism, where we should have seen it coming from, as the barriers between the State and the individual ended.

The Orthosphere on that odd notion of Judeo-Christian…anything. Further, an interesting take on the origins and use of guilt trips. A small piece on what every little girl dreams of…being a tackle box, apparently. Plus, a great explanation of the Chinese Room Thought Experiment. Also, reasons not to buy into ‘Folk Psychology‘.

An article by Mr. Evan Charney, a university professor whose contract is not renewed for the raison du jour, a lack of safe space. He points out that the college campus PC cult largely defines its standards by leftist ideology. No one on the MAGA side is screeching about ‘safe spaces’, for instance. It is a distinction I had not appreciated before, as I thought it was due to the upbringing of Millenials, and not an ideology.

Obligatory girl with Red Ensign picture. Thanks, Faith Goldy.

Lastly, for Canuckistanis, Throne Altar Liberty with True Allegiance and The Liberal Party’s Politics of Fear. Do RTWT, but here is a quote:

The other implication of these demands is that white supremacism is a significant problem in Canada and a realistic threat to our civilization. This is total bunk, a fact which nobody knows better than the Liberals themselves. It was a Liberal government in 1977, the government led by the father of the present Prime Minister, that passed the Canadian Human Rights Act after selling the Act to the public, with the assistance of the media, by generating a fear that Nazism was on the verge of being reborn here on Canadian soil. This had been facilitated by the formation of the Canadian Nazi Party which contained, maybe, one actual disciple of Adolf Hitler. It otherwise consisted of agents provocateurs supplied by the government and by private activist organizations that had an interest in seeing this legislation passed. There was not the slightest possibility of this group, or any white supremacist group, establishing a Fourth Reich in Canada but the manufactured, bogus, threat of such was used by the Liberals and their allies, to pass a bill which, despite its title, did nothing to protect the lives, property, and freedoms of people under the jurisdiction of Canadian law from the threat of abusive state power, but instead authorized state meddling in all sorts of private interactions and imported, from the Soviet system, thought police and tribunals which, since the media, except for a brief time about a decade ago when it felt its own liberty threatened, has largely refrained from criticizing or even reporting their doings, have been effectually allowed to function as secret police and tribunals. It was this system set up by the Canadian Human Rights Act, and not the phony “Nazi menace” invented to dupe the public into supporting it, which was and is the real threat to our freedom and order, civilization and way of life.

For modern Canadians…sound familiar? Remember, he’s talking about 1977 here. Make no mistake: Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada have stated publicly, in Parliament and elsewhere, that if you are Canadian then it is implied that you are by virtue of that identity a racist, a sexist , a bigot, and specifically, an Islamophobe. You must seek salvation for your inherent ‘original’ sin, and the only way to do so is by admitting your inherent defects, adopting the Liberal ideology and allowing them to dictate reality to you. It’s not about protecting anyone, or making sure people are protected. It’s about controlling you, your actions and your thoughts. It’s time, Canuckistanis, to stop tolerating this kind of bullshit.

Keep on reactin’
